Ryde Ventilator, July 19, 1873
Her Majesty, the Queen has visited the town twice during the past week. Her Majesty almost invariably enters the High Street from John Street, and it would be a vast improvement to that part of the town if the lower part of High street could be widened. The money wasted at Winchester during the past week would accomplish that desirable object. Her Majesty looked well, and her presence among us was highly gratifying to a large number of visitors, to whom a sight of the sovereign on whose dominions the sun never sets is a novelty.
