PHOTOGRAPHY – An excellent and faithful portrait of the Rev Dr Ferguson has just been published by Lacy, of the Arcade, in what is technically termed “paper positive”. The artist has succeeded admirably in portraying the expression and attitude of his subject; and as a souvenir, we have no doubt it will be extensively purchased by the doctor’s admirers.

The Hon Lucius Cary by William Lacy

William Lacy died on November 19, 1861, in the sitting room of Cornelius Jabez Hughes, who went on to buy Lacy’s business in the Royal Victoria Arcade. Although this is not the photograph of Dr Ferguson, photographs by William Lacy, like the one here, occasionally come up for sale.
