Her Majesty the Queen drove into Ryde on Friday evening and round the Boating Lake.
We regret that one of our types in our newspaper fell out last week without being noticed. The Town cup weighs 87ozs, not 7ozs, as appears in some editions.
VISIT OF THE PRINCESS OF WALES – On Thursday afternoon, HRH the Princess of Wales and Princesses Victoria and Maud, and a party including the Marquis and Marchioness of Ormonde, paid a visit to our town, and walked down Union Street. They spent some little time at Hughes’ and Mullins’ establishment, examining the various photographs and made purchases. They afterwards paid a visit to Mr H N Mills, and appeared much interested in looking over his stock of antiquities. Afterwards they went down the Pier, but were not recognised by Mr Purdue, the collector, who took their tolls in the ordinary way, and was very much surprised to learn who it was he had had the honour of admitting to the Pier.
