Russian Duchess visits Ryde

Her Imperial Highness the Duchess Catherine of Russia, arrived in the Royal Clarence Yard on Monday evening, by rail, and embarked in the Fire Queen, steam vessel, which conveyed Her Highness to Ryde. The Fire Queenhoisted the Russian Standard, which HMS Victory saluted with 21 guns, as did also the Blenheim and Vestal, as she passed through Spithead. As the Fire Queen passed the Circassian, Russian yacht, the crew, dressed for the occasion, cheered the Duchess enthusiastically.
