Yelf’s Talk – MY TEN AND A HALF ARCTIC CONVOYS – Alec Penstone
Wartime hero Alec Penstone will be presenting a talk (now that he has thawed out!), detailing ‘MY TEN AND HALF ARTIC CONVOYS’ in the warmth of Yelf’s Hotel, Union Street, Ryde on Thursday 9th November at 7.30pm. Doors open at 7pm.
Entry is £4, (£3 for HRS members). All are welcome.
Alec is one of the last survivors of the Artic Convoys that sailed with vital supplies to Russia from Great Britain during the Second World War. He was also part of the D-day Invasion and the Pacific War in Japan, but they will be the subject of a second talk in the New Year.
Signed copies of Alec’s book will be available after the talk. (£15) There is also a DVD (£10). Card payments accepted.
The talk is one of a series being given to help raise funds to keep the Museum of Ryde being able to display the history of Ryde.
