Her Majesty the Queen Dowager arrived here in the Fire Queen, on Wednesday afternoon last, at four o’clock, and was received at the Pier Head in due form by the Magistrates and resident Gentry of the town. Immediately on Her Majesty’s landing, a salute was fired from the battery of the Royal Victoria Yacht club House. Her Majesty proceeded without delay to the Pier Hotel, amidst the enthusiastic greeting of a large concourse of spectators. Her Majesty has taken apartments at the Pier Hotel for ten days or a fortnight. The Fanny, tender, Honourable M Spencer, Commander, is in daily attendance off the Pier. On Thursday, Her Majesty took an airing on the Pier and a short cruise in the Fanny. On Friday, Her Majesty and suite took a drive in the environs of Ryde.  The Queen Dowager, on returning from luncheon at Osborne House, was most graciously pleased to pay a visit to the Marble and Madripore Repository of Mr Charles Lyons, Virandah-House, where she made various purchases of his beautiful inlaid ornaments.
